Position Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the intern assists the pharmacist in all phases of the department operation including unit dose, IV admixture, outpatient duties. She/he will advise the Director of malfunctioning equipment, maintenance problems, and any unusual situations, occurrences, conditions, reactions, or effects including those related to drugs, drug requests, usage or security. She/he must be able to work cooperatively with all hospital employees and patients and encourage and maintain good personal and business relationships with them, in addition to the daily (Monday-Friday) on-site activity, the Pharmacist Intern or his/her designee will be available as needed for on-call service. He/she may assist in the teaching of students and house staff where applicable. The pharmacist intern must perform other duties as needed. This position does not provide direct patient care.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Currently enrolled or postgraduate of School of Pharmacy Experience: Six months experience within an acute care hospital preferred Training: None required License/Certification: Current Pharmacy Intern License from the State of California Knowledge/skills/abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of responsibilities of a pharmacist and limits of pharmacy intern activities.
